Globalisation prompts the movement of individuals and assets, emphasising the need for proper regulations to ensure free movement across borders. This session, hosted by the Banking, Finance, and Capital Markets Commission alongside the Tax Law Commission, addresses the implications of crises, particularly during wartime, on asset protection and movement.
Moderators will lead discussions on financial regulations governing international payments, exploring legal limitations and opportunities for securing transactions. They’ll also delve into financial procedures and corporate structures facilitating cross-border asset movements.
From a tax perspective, the panel will tackle the complexities faced by mobile taxpayers, including eligibility for double taxation treaties and various tax considerations like income tax and capital gains tax. Additionally, they’ll examine challenges posed by wartime, such as international sanctions and the effectiveness of regulations amidst recent conflicts. Join this timely discussion to explore financial and tax strategies for supporting clients in navigating global challenges.
Christine Alexis Concepción is a founding partner at Concepcion Global based in Miami and Madrid. Christine advises individuals and closely held businesses on complex international and domestic tax matters. Christine’s experience includes income and estate tax planning, U.S. pre-immigration tax planning, and expatriation from the United States. Further, Christine has extensive experience assisting clients comply with FATCA laws and regulations. She also represents taxpayers in federal tax audits, offshore voluntary disclosures, and streamlined disclosures as well as advises them on criminal tax investigations and other criminal tax matters. Christine also advises Latin American and European investors on investments in U.S. real estate, and assists cross-border businesses on establishing a business presence in the United States.
Maryll is a tax lawyer since 2015. Her tax practice covers estate planning and individual taxation. She focuses amongst others on tax issues relevant to trusts, foundations and settlements. She also assists clients with voluntary disclosure proceedings, anti-money laundering legislation and regulation.

Anton Zaderyholova is a Partner at AVELLUM’s Tax & Private Client Practices. He focuses on effectively structuring corporate clients’ international deals and business processes.
Anton has significant experience in advising clients on international tax planning, direct and indirect taxation, personal taxation, transfer pricing, and customs. He has worked on transfer pricing projects in various areas: IT, telecom, retail, and pharmaceuticals.
In addition to his experience with corporate clients, Anton is adept at handling sensitive tax, succession, and legal issues for private clients. Marc is a partner at Fischer Ramp Buchmann Ltd, a private client boutique based in Zurich.
Marc advises private clients on their domestic and international estate, tax, social security and succession planning. He regularly acts on behalf of national and international companies and is experienced in cross-border matters, in particular tax planning and restructurings.
Katarzyna Jaroszyńska-Lewandowska is an attorney-at-law of the Wolf Theiss Corporate M&A team in Poland. Her practice focuses on capital markets, securities and financial institutions, as well as M&A transactions, local and international corporate restructurings, day-to-day corporate issues, and corporate governance, particularly for public companies. Katarzyna has experience in equity capital markets, including IPOs and preparing prospectuses. Additionally, she represents clients in proceedings before the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. She is well versed in the regulatory aspects of the operation of financial institutions, including brokerage houses, banks, investment funds, insurance companies, and has expertise in the offering of financial products and service outsourcing. She also advises on takeovers and acquisitions of major stakes in public companies, compliance with reporting obligations, and foreign securities in Poland.
Jakub Michalik is the Head of International, Institutional Affairs and Communications at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). He joined ESMA in 2014 and since then he has been leading ESMA’s activities in the EU legislative processes as well as negotiations with non-EU public and private sector stakeholders.
From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Michalik served as a parliamentary assistant to a senior MEP on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) of the European Parliament and dealt with the post-crisis banking and financial markets regulatory reform. Prior to joining the European Parliament, Mr. Michalik worked extensively on compliance and implementation matters, including both wholesale and retail business areas, within private sector.
Mr. Michalik earned his PhD in Law from University of Vienna and his Magister in Law from University of Graz. Mr. Michalik holds the professional qualification as a solicitor and is an author and speaker in the area of banking and capital markets regulation.
Matt is Head of Global Wealth Management – Client Tax in Compliance and Operational Risk Control at UBS AG.
Matt is a US tax lawyer based in Zurich, Switzerland specializing in US international tax matters, cross-border regulatory compliance, and international tax controversies. After more than a decade in private practice, he began working for Swiss financial institutions and joined Credit Suisse AG in 2022 as Global Head of Client Tax Risk within Financial Crimes Compliance, and UBS AG in April 2024.
