Submerge yourself in the leading institution of the performing arts in Spain during the Opening Ceremony & Walking dinner of the 62nd AIJA Annual Congress at the Teatro Real, the foremost national opera house and one of the most important Spanish cultural institutions.

The first stone of the Teatro Real was laid on 23 April 1818, during the reign of Fernando VII, and it was formally inaugurated by his daughter, Queen Isabel II, on 19 November 1850. The artistic project behind the Teatro Real has led to its current position as one of the main international opera centres and a benchmark for Spanish cultural institutions. Its artistic programme seeks excellence, with an interest in both traditional repertory and contemporary forms, including 20th-century music and the newest avant-garde, with a firm commitment to providing the public with a place where they can discover the best artists and creators of today.

Mario Alonso Puig is a physician, specialist in general and digestive system surgery and Chairman of the Center for Health & Well-Being at IE University. He is also a Fellow in Surgery from Harvard University in Boston, ITP from the IMD in Lausanne, certified in Systemic Coaching from the Tavistock Institute in London and in Ericksonian Hypnosis from the Milton Erickson Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also trained in mind-body medicine at the Mind-Body Institute at Harvard University, whose president was Dr. Herbert Benson, and in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine Health Care and Society, attached to the UMASS Medical School. He is a member of the Applied Innovation Institute (AII) based in Silicon Valley, California, and of the GNH Centre of Bhutan, being certified as a GNH practitioner by this centre, and being one of the founders of the GNH Centre of Bhutan in Madrid. In addition to his practice as a surgeon for twenty-six years, he trained and worked for two years at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Madrid.

Dr. Alonso Puig has been invited to speak on leadership, uncertainty management, stress, creativity, communication, health, wellbeing and happiness at conferences, universities, hospitals, companies and institutions in more than thirty-five countries on five continents, he is an honorary patron of the Juegaterapia Foundation and an ambassador for Manos Unidas. In 2012 he was awarded the prize for best health communicator by ASEDEF. In 2013 he won the Espasa Essay Prize. In 2014, he won the Know Square Award for exemplary informative trajectory. In January 2019 he received the Cubi 2018 Healthy Gastronomy Award from FACYRE (Spanish Federation of Chefs and Pastry Chefs). In the same year he also received the Optimistas Comprometidos Award in the category of social transformation. In 2023 he received the Cambio 16 Magazine Award in the category of Change of Consciousness.
